RAEBURN’S RUCKSACKS: Disney has tapped Christopher Raeburn to design a capsule collection of bags that pays homage to Mickey and Minnie Mouse, which launches later today.

“The design was honed over a whole year, working with Disney’s character artist,” said Raeburn. “We also worked hard to source the best materials and reduce waste on the packaging. “

Raeburn created a unisex range of bags of the cartoon couple, created with ethically sourced napa leather and organic indigo denim. The bag features a zipped pocket with adjustable straps, packaged in a reusable box designed by Reaburn’s manufacturing partner, Avery Dennison RBIS. The Minnie version was done in a pink napa leather and is sold exclusively at Selfridges.

Prices range from 375 pounds or $495 for a denim bag to 495 pounds or $653 for a leather bag. They will be sold at Selfridges and The Conran store in London and other retailers.

Raeburn joins the ranks of designers including Kenzo, Robert Clergerie, Marc Jacobs, Olympia Le Tan, who have created special ranges for the company.

The designer who attended the launch of Hackney Walk, London’s first designer outlet, recently moved his studio from Poplar and Limehouse to Burberry’s old textile factory in Hackney.
