Avery Dennison Retail Branding and Information Solutions Expands Manufacturing Capabilities in Vietnam

28,000 square meter manufacturing facility in Long An province, Vietnam, will facilitate next generation of “Made in Vietnam” products

LONG AN, VIETNAM  - Today, Avery Dennison Retail Branding and Information Solutions (RBIS), a global leader in apparel industry branding, labeling, packaging, embellishments and RFID solutions, officially announced the opening of its latest manufacturing facility in Vietnam, located at the Long Hau Industrial Park in Long An province. This new facility will serve the increasing demands from the many global garment and textile brands that are now operating in Vietnam with breakthrough apparel labeling and branding solutions.

Our Long An facility will enable us to accelerate our innovative heat-transfer embellishment capabilities and overall speed to market to better serve leading global brands and retailers.”

Since its entry in Vietnam in 2003, Avery Dennison RBIS has invested $40 million USD to date, with the new Long An manufacturing facility representing the next milestone of the company’s ongoing investment in the country. The modern facility will incorporate Avery Dennison’s global materials science and know-how capabilities in packaging, labeling and embellishments solutions, helping to integrate Vietnam into the global supply chain.

The facility will also feature Avery Dennison’s latest manufacturing innovations and proprietary developments, including the new Component Weaving technology, available for the first time in Asia, following the initial launch in Italy. Avery Dennison’s Agility™ HD Heat Transfer technology, which offers excellent stretch and recovery, combined with photo-real creative opportunities for elevated design, will be available in 2016.

The new facility will welcome 1,200 new employees who will join a network of 25,000 employees around the world. Talent development remains a key pillar of success at Avery Dennison and employees will undergo leadership development and skill enhancement programs in Vietnam.

Avery Dennison RBIS’ first factory was established in Binh Duong in 2003 and in July 2015, it opened a new distribution center located in Binh Tan district. The company has been active in supporting communities across the country with local initiatives such as a Blood Donation Program, Better Work Safety Fun Run and Helmets For Children. As part of the company’s global sustainability commitment, Avery Dennison and its Foundation will provide a $20,000 USD grant to support Room to Read, a non-governmental organization committed to developing literacy skills and a habit of reading among primary age children, at the opening. The two‐year partnership will focus on improving literacy skills for 400 children in Long An by establishing two school libraries with educational resources, new books, teacher training and Avery Dennison classroom volunteers.

To celebrate the opening, executives from Avery Dennison including, Dean Scarborough, chairman and chief executive officer, Avery Dennison Corporate; Anne Hill, senior vice president and chief human resources officer, Avery Dennison Corporate; Deon Stander, vice president and general manager, Avery Dennison RBIS; Rishi Pardal, vice president/general manager, North Asia, Avery Dennison RBIS; and Chau Nguyen, general manager, Mainland Southeast Asia, Avery Dennison RBIS hosted a ceremony to launch the new factory. The event included the presence of Ms.Truong Thi Thu Ha, deputy director, Department of Light Industry, Ministry of Industry and Trade and dignitaries from the provincial government, a tour of the facility, a dragon dance performance and ribbon cutting ceremony.
