Avery Dennison, Global Fashion Exchange and West London Waste Authority

Driving change across the apparel industry.

Across the globe, Avery Dennison has been an ongoing partner to the sustainable fashion movement and we are honored to have recently sponsored two powerful Global Fashion Exchange events which took place in  V&A South Kensington, London, July 1 and New York, July 8.

Since 2013, the Global Fashion Exchange (GFX) has reached over 850 million people across seven continents, collaborated with partners from the United Nations to H&M brand and saved 110 tons of clothing from going to landfill.

In London, Global Fashion Exchange recently teamed up with the West London Waste Authority (WLWA)  to host a Swap & Pop-up Talks event at the V&A South Kensington (Victoria and Albert Museum). Industry leaders speaking at the event included GFX Co-Founder Patrick Duffy, international, award-winning ethical photographer, director and published author Charney Magri, Influencer Joanna Cooper, and Helen Sahi, Global Senior Director of Sustainability at Avery Dennison.

Helen Sahi spoke of her very own wedding dress and the ability to tell a story across multiple generations of her family. While the rebirth of garments is powerful, she also painted a vision of how technology can provide meaningful change for future generations.

When products have a physical window to digital information, they have the ability to tell us incredible things about where they are from, how they were made, and how we can give them new life. When every product has a digital identity, Helen envisions a world where garments not only live longer, but are used better and are enriched by the incredible stories they hold and inspire.

In New York, Avery Dennison sponsored the Global Fashion Exchange brunch swap and shop, featuring a disco and live runway show promoting the future of sustainable fashion. There were over 1600 attendees, 42 brands and 15 industry leading speakers who attended this event.

Working with the Global Fashion Exchange is helping them reach their goal of keeping 1 million pounds of clothing out of landfills - our focus on the future of sustainability will help drive transformation in the apparel industry.
