Miguel Montanaro

Customer Supply Chain Manager

What inspires me:
The folks at Avery Dennison. We are a big, multicultural, and diverse company where you can meet people from many places around the world with different backgrounds, and who speak different languages. I am always interested in learning more about their stories, what motivates them, what their aspirations and hobbies are, etc. I can now say that I have a friend in almost every corner of the world.

What sparks my interest in a project:
It needs to be something challenging to pique my attention. I like to leave my comfort zone and get involved in things that I have never worked on before or take on a project that has struggled with success.

How Avery Dennison RBIS’ focus on speed and simplicity translates into what my team does:
The Customer Supply Chain team represents Avery Dennison Operations and Supply Chain organization. It’s our responsibility to resolve operational issues from end to end, and ensure service level targets are fulfilled with continuous improvement in becoming simpler, faster and more competitive.

What Supply Chain Excellence means to me:
Supply Chain Excellence is all about improving performance continuously, month by month, quarter by quarter, year by year. The key performance indicators (KPIs) we selected are development speed, production speed, and customer satisfaction --  these  are the metrics that are important for the customer–and our customers always come first.

My path to this role:
I’ve had several positions since the beginning of my career at Avery Dennison. I started in the Global Organizational Leadership Development (GOLD) Program in one of our manufacturing facilities in Mexico as a process engineer. I then moved to Fitchburg, MA and worked as an  Enterprise Lean Six Sigma (ELS) project leader for another year. After that, I worked three years in the Global Printing and Converting Platform team as a project engineer and then technology manager for that product line. Just last year, I started this journey as a Customer Supply Chain manager and it has been a great experience so far.

What are some key lessons you’ve learned in your role?
Open communication and teamwork are necessary elements for success.
